Prospective candidates for the nursing program must thoroughly review the admissions criteria. Admission is competitive and not guaranteed. The admissions process consists of two phases.

Phase one involves meeting the minimum GPA in the required science prerequisites and the minimum HESI-A2 exam scores.

Phase two entails an invitation to sit for the dosage calculation exam administered by Lehman's nursing department. Final admission decisions are based on the comprehensive evaluation of all three components.

A minimum grade of C (73) or better is required in each of the pre-requisite science courses, and a minimum cumulative index of 2.75 or greater in these courses, or their equivalents, is required to apply for admission to the generic program.

Please note: Although courses can be repeated in accordance with college policy, for consideration in determining admission to the Nursing Program, the first grade earned will be used to determine eligibility. Grades from retaken courses will not be considered. Grades of P/F or CR/NC will be considered as first attempts.

HIN 268 must be completed prior to admissions to the program for all nursing programs.

HIN 269 can be taken post admissions to the program. If students earn a C- on an HIN course, they have one opportunity to retake the course and pass with a B or higher.

The Accelerated Generic program is limited to second-degree students. All prospective applicants for this program must earn a bachelor's degree in another discipline, complete all pre-requisite courses & HESI-A2 exam prior to the nursing application deadline, March 15th of every year.

Accelerated applicants do not have to submit a secondary application to the traditional generic program. They will also be considered for the traditional generic program.
