4 hours; 4 creditsLiterary works, historical documents, and theoretical paradigms thatsituate U.S. cultural production in relation to places outside its borders,with particular attention to the Western hemisphere. Topics include:globalization, first contact between Europe and the Americas, culturaldimensions of U.S. foreign policy, forms of expression arising fromdiaspora experience, and the reception of U.S. culture abroad. Thiscourse is the same as American Studies 3307.Prerequisite: English 1010.
